Last chance Logan is Madeley’s Superhero!

1 Oct 2017 by Stefan Barker

A last ditch wonder strike from Logan ensured Madeley White Stars took a share of the spoils in a hard fought, enthralling encounter at Manor Road. Trailing 3-1 and with time running out it was Madeley’s never say die spirit that shone through. Savas, who had proved a menace all half pounced on a Kidsgrove error to slot home Madeley’s second. And then with just 5 minutes left, it was a beautifully struck free kick by Logan, hit with precision and guile that sailed into the top corner to earn The White Stars a well deserved draw.

It was a game in which Madeley rode their luck at times. Keeper Sam producing a couple of fine saves in the first half to keep Madeley in the game. However, the Madeley management would have been disappointed with the goals which were actually conceded. A clumsily given away penalty and two avoidable goals had Madeley chasing the game for long periods. That being said, Madeley could have entered half time ahead. Their first goal was a superbly executed header by Joe Mordecai from another excellent set piece from Logan to make it 1-1. Then Taslim hit a superb strike that rattled the woodwork. Joe had another chance that on another day would have been slotted home.

Madeley would consider it a point well earned against a physical Kidsgrove side with lots of promising performances all over the pitch. Sam B played well and is looking stronger each week following an injury. Nat and Jamie battled hard in Midfield all morning and Evan, Ben and Harvey dealt well with a pacy, strong Kidsgrove forward line.

Well done boys!
